Q I’ve started ex­er­cises to lose my dou­ble chin but noth­ing’s hap­pened. Am I just wast­ing my time? Myra, Dundee

Adou­ble chin is largely down to your genes, be­sides be­ing over­weight and los­ing skin and mus­cle tone with age. Ex­er­cises to tighten chin mus­cles might help a lit­tle, but los­ing weight – and, if nec­es­sary, pri­vate li­po­suc­tion – are prob­a­bly more ef­fec­tive.
