FAMILY AFFAIR
Barbara Daly Baekeland was a rich US socialite. She had a strained relationship with her son Antony, allegedly due to his sexual orientation.
In late July 1972, Antony Baekeland tried to kill his mother outside her London home. She wasn’t harmed and refused to press charges.
In November 1972, Antony murdered Barbara, then 51.
He was institutionalised at Broadmoor Hospital until July 1980, and after returning to the US, he then tried to kill his grandmother.
He died in prison in 1981.
