The red carpet was rolled out at the Hilton Hotel on Deansgate for BBC Radio Manchester presenter Chelsea Norris’s annual ladies’ lunch. Guests, including soap stars Mollie Winnard and Daisy Wood-davis, enjoyed a champagne reception, and a shopping village with stallholders and live music.

The occasion raised an incredible £12,000 for St Ann’s Hospice and the Once Upon a Smile charity. A raffle and auction, hosted by actor and head of Once Upon a Smile, Dan Jillings, offered tickets to see Jason Manford and a chance to meet Gino D’acampo at the opening of his new deli.

There were heartwarming stories. Guests were applauded as they shared their experiences of how the charities had helped them in times of need. Members of the fashion show modelling team had their own experiences too - with one telling the crowd that despite having terminal cancer she will never give up.

Chelsea who hails from Stockport said: ‘It’s an honour that so many ladies come back year after year to this event. I always put so much into making it a memorable day. We laugh, we cry and we party but we go home feeling grateful and I love it.’
