Music fans will know the name Pete Johnson, aka ‘Snakey Jake’, owner of the Crewe musical instrument shop ‘Custom Amplification’ and renowned for his love of the early 1920s and 1930s blues. As a teenager in the Sixties Pete was hanging out with top American country blues singers who taught him to play slide guitar. On October 25, Nantwich auctioneers Peter Wilson will sell Pete’s Dobro Mosrite Resonator guitar, circa 1965. Pete says of this guitar: ‘I like the sound. It has dignity: there’s a remote, oldfashioned sound to it. It has always been greatly admired. Interviewers have asked me about it and people have wanted to own it’. Now’s your chance: it’s estimated at £700-1,000.
