More star quality for Classic Bike Live as frame guru Colin Seeley joins TT legend John Mcguinness

Classic Bike (UK) - - Contents -

Colin Seeley has been confirmed as another guest of honour, alongside TT legend John Mcguinness, at our autumn extravaganza – Classic Bike Live – at the Peterborough Arena on October 28/29.

The former bike dealer, sidecar ace, frame builder extraordinaire and team manager has done it all in motorcycling and you can meet him in person at Peterborough. Colin started racing on a solo in 1954 – a BSA Star twin borrowed from a friend – and competed in grass track and scrambles, before switching to three-wheels for a glittering career at British and world championship level between 1961 and 1967 – lifting the British championship in 1962 and 1963 and scoring a win at the Dutch TT in 1964 on the way to third place in the world title hunt that year.

He later switched to manufacturing, producing the successful Seeley racing frames for machines as diverse as the G50 Matchless, two-stroke Suzuki racers – including some for a certain Barry Sheene – and road going Honda fours. We’ve got a number of Seeley machines appearing at the show too. Seeley enthusiast Neil Brailsford is bringing along three Seeley replica racers from his collection. There’ll be a 1974 Mk III Seeley Commando, a MKII Suzuki T500 and a Matchless G50 in a MKIII Seeley chassis. And French engineer Frank Chatokhine will be displaying the superb Seeley Condor replica road bike we featured in the October 2016 issue of CB.

We’re still taking bookings for the autojumble area and might even be able to squeeze in a couple more club displays if you’re quick. Contact amy@livepromo for details. And there’s still time to enter your bike for the prestigious – and potentially lucrative – best in show concours.
