Untouched but also unloved
Dennis Frost confirms my recent point that although unrestored bikes can command a premium price, they can also be worn out. Dennis recently bought an LE Velocette, completely untouched, with just 16,000 miles on the clock. Anticipating factory perfection inside, he was horrified to find the bottom end full of muck and badly worn big ends. “It’s great to have a low-mileage bike, but not if nobody has ever changed the oil!” he laments.
