A BIT ON THE SIDE
Ready to ride classics shine at Cheffins
The first of the motorcycle lots to go under the hammer at Cheffin’s recent Cambridge vintage sale proved to be the top seller. The 1965 BMW R60 and Steib S501 outfit made a respectable £10,200. Purchased by the vendor in solo trim in 1998, the outfit has seen regular use on VMCC runs and was presented in fine, usable condition.
Other highlights of the combined bike, car and automobilia sale included a US market 1975 Triumph T150V Trident that made a reasonable £7500. Restored by the vendor in 2006, the bike was sold ready to enjoy, with MOT. And, while not a genuine 900SS, a 1977 Ducati 860 MKIII GT, fitted with a Darmah SSD engine with 900SS specification heads, 9.5:1 pistons and 40mm carburettors looked good value, selling at £9000.
