A DASH OF STYLE FROM THE ’20s

Classic Bike (UK) - - WORKSHOP YOUR RESTOS -

This is my uncle, ‘Grip’ Hyde of Weymouth, with his future wife and brother-in-law, dating from the late 1920s. My mother remembered learning to ride her brother’s Norton while in her teens, until her mum put a stop to her fun. I think the bike must be a 3½hp or early model 16 – any information would be welcomed. Chris Rod

Great picture! I can’t date the reg number but PR is a Dorset series.

By the ‘coffee pot’ silencer and rear brake rim/chain drive combination, I’d guess the bike is a 1924/25 500cc Model 16H. Cheers, Rick Parkington

ABOVE: Uncle Grip – great name, great bike
