Well-con­ceived spe­cials and in­spi­ra­tional folk at the re­cent gath­er­ing at Montl­héry in France

This year’s Cafe Racer Fes­ti­val was the sixth to be held at the lo­ca­tion of the fa­mous Montl­héry speed bowl in north­ern France. Now it has es­tab­lished it­self as a top-class event on the Euro­pean scene, it at­tracts riders of both mod­ern and clas­sic bikes of all va­ri­eties – stock or stripped, tuned, re­fined and styled. You could check out the cus­tom-built bob­bers on the Tri­umph stand or see his­toric bikes on show – such as one of three Thun­der­birds that cov­ered 500 miles at over 90mph on the fa­mous banked cir­cuit in 1949. You could en­joy the live mu­sic and good vibes. Or if you were lucky enough to get track time, you could ride the fa­mously steep con­crete bank­ing of the Montl­héry’s cir­cuit.
