Well-conceived specials and inspirational folk at the recent gathering at Montlhéry in France
This year’s Cafe Racer Festival was the sixth to be held at the location of the famous Montlhéry speed bowl in northern France. Now it has established itself as a top-class event on the European scene, it attracts riders of both modern and classic bikes of all varieties – stock or stripped, tuned, refined and styled. You could check out the custom-built bobbers on the Triumph stand or see historic bikes on show – such as one of three Thunderbirds that covered 500 miles at over 90mph on the famous banked circuit in 1949. You could enjoy the live music and good vibes. Or if you were lucky enough to get track time, you could ride the famously steep concrete banking of the Montlhéry’s circuit.
