FBHVC STEPS IN TO SOLVE THE SPARES CRISIS
Many owners’ clubs are already working on parts remanufacture, but need more support
Anew survey into the state of the nation’s classic car clubs and their spare parts supply has found that shortages are leaving owners struggling to get their cars fixed.
According to a soon-to-be-published report by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC), 60% of clubs are now either sourcing or remanufacturing replacement parts, to make up for the fact that there is no longer manufacturer support.
Clubs say the most difficult items to source are body panels and brightwork, while brake components and electrical items are easier to find because they’re shared between manufacturers.
