I am old. Old enough to have been heavily engaged in the motoring scene in the 1950s and, to me, the 107E Ford Prefect meant a car with the new Ford Anglia’s engine and gearbox, not the old 1172cc sidevalve unit and three-speed gearbox. So I think young Nick Larkin got it wrong in his 1950s Cars You Can Afford To Love ( CCW 20 January). Not the first time he has, I think, but never mind – I am a fan, and Nick’s got petrol in his blood. Ron Watts, King’s Lynn, Norfolk We think you’ll find Nick did mention 1959’s fitment of the new OHV engine in the 107E in his piece – Ed.
