Mathewsons’ upcoming sale highlights the rise of the neo-classic

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Auction News -

The first of seven Mathewsons sales in 2016 kicks off on Saturday, 27 February, with a selection of stylish modern classics lining up alongside the more staid, traditional choices.

Interest in younger cars is clearly on the ascendancy, with many recent and upcoming sales featuring 1990-onwards cars. Mathewsons is offering a 2000 Alfa Romeo Spider Twin-Spark, a 1999 Porsche Boxster and a 1997 MercedesBenz SLK230 Kompressor, while for those who want to carry loads exceeding this trio’s boot capacities, a 1998 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 estate in posh-person’s GLS trim could fit the bill nicely.

Two low-mileage motors deserve to attract strong bidding in Thornton-Le- Dale. A 1974 MGB GT in rare factory black, with just 17,000 miles on the clock, should get enthusiasts buzzing with excitement. On the other hand, a 1978 Ford Escort Popular Plus four-door that’s covered 20,000 miles from new is one worth closer inspection. 01751 474455 www.mathewsons.co.uk
