1988 Nissan Micra 1.0LS
Once the favoutite of driving schools up and down the country, the early, K10 Micra is still about, but many are just tired, ratty models that have probably done many years’ reliable service as fifirst cars for students. Looking at one as good as this 3900-miles-from-new example was a chance to reappraise late-1980s non-hot hatchbacks, and see they have plenty of personality and usability. While it was no tarmac terrorist (ACA had a selection of 205GTis for anyone longing for over-blown torque steer) it was a great-order inside and out, and under the bonnet too. New tyres and battery and a fresh MoT were reassuring. This was a decent little buy for one punter.
