1939 Alvis Speed 25 SC Charlesworth saloon project
Bought by the vendor’s father in 1962 for £1000, this potentially lovely Alvis project is definitely not one for the faint-hearted. It was used throughout the 1960s and taken off the road for an engine rebuild in 1970. The engine was stripped and rebored, with various components white-metalled. Those parts were later stored and form part of the project. The body does need plenty of restoration, says Brightwells, particularly the A- and B-posts, but some work has been carried out to the doors. An interesting and clearly demanding project, but one with potentially superb results.
