The rise of the fast Ford continues unabated, with Silverstone Auctions confirming the £54,000 sale of its Capri 280 Special at the Race Retro auction at Stoneleigh Park last weekend.

The 1987 Ford Capri 280 Brooklands’ amazing performance comes on the back of a string of high-value Fords at auction through 2015 and into 2016. The car is in exceptional condition, and was kept in a strictly temperature controlled environment from new before being sold to its second owner – and the seller – in 2011. It wasn’t alone being a Ford success – the 1995 Ford Escort RS Cosworth Lux at the sale made £52,875 while a very nice 1972 Ford Escort Mexico went for £43,875, some £16,000 above estimate.

‘Once again we’ve been able to host a highly successful auction, and have broken world records,’ says managing director of Silverstone Auctions, Nick Whale.

This 936-mile Ford Capri 280 Special smashed auction records at last weekend’s Race Retro sale.
