More trouble with the DVLA

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Your Letters -

Ian Banks’ troubles with the DVLA ( Letters, 17 February) prompted me to write as I experienced similar errors on two of my cars over recent months.

The first issue related to the DVLA indicating that the Daimler coupé I have owned for 24 years was built one year after it was registered. The second was with a Jaguar X-Type I had just traded in. The agency had somehow crossed over the documents, with the result that the new owner’s road tax was declared invalid. His car was clamped as a result.

The DVLA did send me notification that I was no longer owner of that car. However, 10 days later a new V5C arrived still showing me as the owner. I returned it with an explanation about a week ago but have had nothing back so far.

I have heard of numerous similar occurrences over recent years on all types of cars. Nick Parks, Crawley, Sussex
