Gerry Marshall’s DTV Firenza up for auction
One of Vauxhall’s greatest competition cars is to be sold at the Goodwood Members’ Meeting on 20 March.
The car whose most famous driver was Gerry Marshall, is expected to fetch £80,000-120,000 at the Bonhams auction.
Vauxhall Heritage was given first refusal of the car by the current vendor. Simon Hucknall, PR manager for Vauxhall says: ‘We were offered it about 18 months ago but decided against it because of the price. We wish the vendor good luck, and we really hope the car stays in the UK.’
Rob Hubbard, senior specialist at Bonhams and consignor has known of the car for years and welcomes its addition to the sale. He says: ‘The vendor is a regular customer of ours and the car has some spectacular history. It’s bound to end up at the Members’ Meeting grid at some point.’
Originally entered by Dealer Team Vauxhall in 1977, it was first in class and second overall at the Spa 24 Hours of that year. Driven by touring car legends Peter Brock and Gerry Marshall, the Firenza also won a ‘Coupe du Roi’ team prize.
In 2005 it was sold at Coy’s Autosport auction to VSCC member Adrian Goding, finishing second in class in the 2006 Sports Car Club’s Pomeroy Trophy at Silverstone.
Could this be the car you take to victory at the 2017 Goodwood Members’ Meeting? It is eligible.
