Bang! But back on the road the next day

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Your Letters -

On 29 February, while driving on the M61 near Chorley, I heard a loud bang and my 1994 Mercedes-Benz E250 stopped within a few yards.

I have used this car as my daily driver since 1997, and this is the first time it has failed to proceed. The RAC arrived within 10 minutes and towed me to my preferred workshop, Entune 2000 at Kearsley, south of Bolton. This is a small three-man business which offers a complete service to classic car owners but will tackle anything offered.

I was told the car had suffered a snapped rear driveshaft. It was returned, repaired and ready to go at 11.30am the following day. Could I have got better service if I owned a new vehicle? I somehow doubt it.

Using a popular classic as your preferred daily really does make sense. Mike Bennett, Bolton, Greater Manchester
