An online challenge has been launched to find deserving car restoration projects, with the opportunity for three winners to receive £4000 each to buy parts and accessories.

Any car enthusiast with a restoration project sat in their garage or workshop is invited to taken part in the first eBay Challenge. The organisers say that hopeful projects can range from a barn find that’s gathering dust, to a family heirloom needing funds to return it to its former glory.

Three winning projects will be chosen by eBay on 3 April, with each winner receiving £4000 in funding to spend on more than 270,000 listings of car and motorcycle parts available via ebay.co. uk. Winners will then have until 3 July 2016 to complete their project.

‘The eBay Car Challenge will bring to life the wide selection of car parts and accessories that can only be found in one place, that’s eBay,’ says Murray Lambell the company’s director of retail car parts and accessories.

‘And in turn will showcase the passion and love of amateur mechanics from across the country.’

To get involved in the challenge, you’ll need to email a photograph of the car in its current condition with 500 words outlining the restoration project including history of the vehicle and the work that needs to be completed,

Terms ands conditions for eBay’s CAR SOS- type challenge have now been posted online.
