Bleeding brakes constitutes essential maintenance, yet is always high on the list of jobs you just don’t want to do. One way of easing the burden is Laser’s 5642 manual brake bleeder, which is one of the more sophisticated systems that doesn’t require compressed air/vacuum. There are any number of bleeding solutions available which rely on pressure from a car tyre, but these are usually built for the budget end of the market, which often shows in the cheap plastic quality and cap design. Experience has shown that without careful prep, using these can be a messy experience. This is not the case with the Laser kit. As a premium product, the universal and direct caps are of an extremely high quality and precise fit, more than capable of supporting the required pressure. The built-in pump and gauge takes the guesswork out of loading, and the three-litre capacity is sufficient to change the fluid on most systems. Most importantly, the shut-off valve snap attachment makes disconnecting the fluid feed a spill-free experience. With no stress, no mess and no risk of paint damage, this kit is particularly recommended if you’re maintaining more than one car.
