1961 Jaguar E-type
Just seven examples of these were built by the Browns Lane competition department and two were intended for Surrey Jaguar dealer John Coombs. Road registered four months after being built, it entered the 191961 Scott Brown Trophy but suffered a broken fanbelt. After that the trail goes cold and was said not to have ‘moved under its own power’ for 15 years, being bought by the vendor in 2002. Restored by a Jaguar specialist and brought up to FIA-compliance standards the original tub was used and exterior panelwork replaced with lightweight aluminium equivalents. It was fourth in the 2006 Le Mans Classic, won its class in the 2006 Spa Six Hours, and has since taken part in the Goodwood Revival.
