The Vintage Sports Car Club’s annual foray into the Cumbrian mountains is a firm CCW favourite – at least for those with warm, rainproof clothing. The sight of Austin Sevens, Ford Model Bs and Riley Kestrels chucking up mud as they struggle up the gruelling Drumhouse section is well worth braving the cold weather for – and unlike most classic motorsport events, you can get right up close to the action. Just remember to bring a Thermos flask and a friend. Parking at the site costs £5 per car.
