ACA’s run of big sales and even bigger prices was ample proof (if proof were needed) that the classic car market is still strong. But how many other auctioneers must have looked at some of the prices, including just over ten grand for a VW Polo G40 and almost 15 grand for a Toyota HiLux pick-up truck, and wondered how the East of England auctioneer does it?
Getting around 2000 punters through its doors to see nearly 300 cars was a good start on ACA’s part, and it’s clear that simply driving motors through really gees up the bidding. But are some sales becoming a bit of an occasion in the classic calendar and drawing people in just because of that? If so, that’s got to be good for the old car movement as a whole.
