1963 Jaguar E-type fhc
This is the first time this car has been on the market since its last owner bought it in 1984 (along with an Aston Martin DB4) for just £6000. There’s a pleasingly honest, if rather scruffy, air about it but it is MoT’d and running, and a hearty rebuke to all those manicured and too-shiny lawn show queens. Punters were undeterred by the grey primer on the bodywork, the crazing in the green paint and the well-used, scruffy interior. Here was a genuinely lovely E-type that sailed well past its £30,000-40,000 estimate, thanks to strong phone bidders competing with those in the hall.
