1929 Austin 16/6 pick-up
Originally a saloon, Brightwells’ Austin 16/6 was later converted to a pick-up truck for coal deliveries around the Welsh border town of Presteigne. Known as Blodwyn, it delivered for 20 years, extra coil springs helping cope with loads of around one ton. Blodwyn retired in 1968 and remained in a barn until 1981 after which it was used for the next 25 years to take spares to autojumbles and car shows. Mechanical work (by a Frazer-Nash expert) has kept Blodwyn on the button and it is said to run and drive well. In marvellously patinated order it’s a superb find.
