At last I’ve made it to one of H&H’s Don­ing­ton Park sales, and I’m glad I did. As my re­view shows, there were plenty of cars on of­fer, and plenty of pun­ters. Put those two el­e­ments to­gether and you have the mak­ings of a first-class auc­tion. But there is clearly more to it that just that: Don­ing­ton’s En­gine Room, a vast, air­craft hanger-like build­ing, is an ideal set­ting, be­cause all the cars are un­der cover – and on the (rainy) day pun­ters were grate­ful for that. There was hearty grub at a rea­son­able price, too. Park­ing’s not a prob­lem ei­ther – and that’s a wel­come change from H&H’s Bux­ton Pav­il­ion Gar­dens. It’s easy to knock auc­tion­eers when they don’t get things right, but it’s im­por­tant to praise when things not only work, but work well.
