At last I’ve made it to one of H&H’s Donington Park sales, and I’m glad I did. As my review shows, there were plenty of cars on offer, and plenty of punters. Put those two elements together and you have the makings of a first-class auction. But there is clearly more to it that just that: Donington’s Engine Room, a vast, aircraft hanger-like building, is an ideal setting, because all the cars are under cover – and on the (rainy) day punters were grateful for that. There was hearty grub at a reasonable price, too. Parking’s not a problem either – and that’s a welcome change from H&H’s Buxton Pavilion Gardens. It’s easy to knock auctioneers when they don’t get things right, but it’s important to praise when things not only work, but work well.
