1968 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow
A later example of the earliest ‘Chippendale’ dashboard Shadows, its condition caused debate among punters. Break it, and comfortably double your money, or get stuck in with a restoration. The paint was the killer – a later repaint hadn’t lasted well, with paint on the front wings, below the chrome strip, as well as at the base of the windscreen, literally falling off. On the other hand, the panels weren’t too bad and the brightwork wasn’t beyond redemption. Inside things weren’t too bad: many auction Shadows have had far worse seats and trim. Definitely not bad for the price, but what happens to it will be interesting.
