MUrray sCUlliON PORSCHE BOXSTER

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - Summer of Classic Love -

It’s a bit modern, but bear with us. We all love buying a car when it’s at the bottom of its depreciation curve, and we are in that magical period where Boxsters will get no cheaper. £5000 will buy you a Porsche with a flat-six in the middle and up to 242bhp sent to the rear wheels. And if you find an S, you should buy that.

The Boxster has the kudos of a Porsche badge while providing a comfortable driving position for nearly everyone. Build quality is good and it’s even a convertible – perfect for long summer days. And then there’s the driving. It tackles country lanes with aplomb and responds to even the smallest of inputs.

Servicing can get expensive, and abused ones are best avoided, but that’s the same for any car really. Best of all if anyone says ‘you only bought that because you can’t afford a 911’ you need to mention it only cost you £5000. Watch their little brains implode at the thought of that, just as you blast away from them at the lights.
