Nothing says summer than a cruise along Southend seafront in faded blue jeans, a white T-shirt and a black leather jacket. While that clothing combo may form beads of sweat in the warm, cosy confines of a Capri in summer, you’ll be the king of cool.

The Ford market is similarly hot at the moment, the auction mercury seemingly always in the ascent. Finding a Capri under five large is a bit of a steal, then. And what a car you get, too.

Those muscular haunches, the enormous bonnet and the snarling front grille will scare most dawdling Sunday drivers out of the way. If they’re still not playing ball, drop a cog and feel the fuel-injected V6 squirm before blasting past.

Just be careful in traditional British ‘summers’, as the inevitable rain and Capri double act has caught out many. However, as summer is when plenty of extreme sports happen, look at Capri driving as a bit like bungee jumping. Make it a summer to remember – pick up a cheap Capri while you can and set forth for the seafront.
