Simon Saint is chairman of 2CVGB, the UK’s biggest 2CV club. He’s owned seven 2CVs and derivatives since his first in 1973; along the way he’s had a Bijou, van and a Dyane, but no Ami (yet). Simon’s everyday car is a 1986 2CV owned from new; it sits alongside an H van and Traction Avant. Simon comments: ‘The 2CV has done 135,000 miles and has only just had its engine rebuilt, but over the years the chassis has been repaired along with the bodywork. There’s a free spirit mentality around 2CV ownership and the affordable prices mean they’re popular with younger enthusiasts. As a national club with 60 local groups, the 2CVGB is very active, and it also has an invaluable spares remanufacturing scheme for parts that aren’t available elsewhere.’
Parts are easy to come by – Simon Saint uses his 2CV daily.
