CCW Allegro does a Le Jog
An Austin Allegro piloted by two of CCW’s writing crew has successfully – and surprisingly – travelled the length of the country, raising more than £600 for charity in the process.
Web producer Calum Brown and contributor Martin Domoney did the 874-mile journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats in Calum’s trusty 1.3-litre 1980 model. So far their total stands at £632.24 for Help for Heroes, donated via a page on the JustGiving fundraising website. They’d like CCW readers to help them reach their target of £1000.
‘Martin and I have always wanted to do Land’s End to John O’Groats in a classic and after watching a particularly harrowing piece on the news about what injured soldiers have to go through we decided Help for Heroes was a very worthy cause. We’re hugely surprised that the Allegro did the entire run without any issues at all, although it was not quite the same story for the journey from Scotland back to the offices in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. We are lucky to be alive.’
You’ll be able to read about Calum’s epic Allegro adventure in Our Classics over the next few weeks.
