A campaign has been started to save a Ford Anglia from the jaws of the crusher. The owner, Joseph Gabrielli has been the victim of credit card fraud, which has stripped him of funds to restore, or store, his car.

The future of ‘Lady Jennie’, also known as ‘the People’s Anglia’, is now in peril as a consequence, as Joseph doesn’t want to see the car broken up for spare parts.

It’s been off the road since 1986 and has little over 58,000 miles on the odometer. Joseph was geared up for the restoration but insists that the longer it takes for him to raise the money, the more likely it is the Anglia 105E will have to be disposed of.

Joseph has set up a fundraising page to raise £1500 – mainly to cover new wings and gain a new MoT certificate. He states that any large donation will guarantee a shot of driving the Anglia upon completion – with the car brought to you.

‘I’ve had a few offers from people to buy this car, all to chop and modify it,’ says Joseph. ‘Their choice of course, but after hearing the original family tell me their memories of the car I really won’t see it scrapped or modified.’

‘This is the last chance to get it restored properly,’ he adds.

Go on – you know you want to save Lady Jennie, the ‘People’s Anglia’.
