HOT ROD AND CUSTOM DRIVE-IN DAY
BEAULIEU, HAMPSHIRE, 22 JUNE
Graeme Rust was glad he drove his 1947 Alvis Woodie TA 14 all the way from Cornwall for this one-day event – which gathers the nation’s best hot rods at the National Motor Museum – because it was voted by Beaulieu’s 6000 showgoers as their favourite.
‘It’s the result of a lot of blood, sweat and tears,’ he says. ‘It’s one of one 45 built and is fitted with a supercharged 3.5-litre Buick V8. The people at Beaulieu just loved it.’
Greg Walters won the Hard-Up Trophy for his 1930 Ford rat rod and Ben Luke’s 1954 Chevrolet 3600 pick-up was named Best in Show. Steve Havelock
