A small garage has become an internet hit since acquiring and advertising a unique cross-sectioned Vauxhall Astra Mk II from the 1980s, with just seven miles on its clock.

Four Crosses Garage in Shrewsbury has generated 100,000 views on the business’s eBay website. A normal ad for the firm generates just hundreds of hits.

Director and classic car collector Lawrence Wells tells CCW: ‘I bought it thinking it would be a good marketing tool. I put it on for £5000 because you have to put a price on items, but it’s generated so much interest in the business I may keep it or sell it for a lot more if the reaction is anything to go by.’

The Astra hatchback was sectioned by a youth team at Ellesmere Port, Vauxhall’s production headquarters. It’s possible the car could have been shown at the 1986 British Motor Show at the NEC in Birmingham.

The car has never been run having been chopped as it came off the production line.
