MARKETS Star Jowett on sale now
A Jowett Jupiter that found fame as the 1951 British Motor Show demonstrator has gone up for sale.
The car, registration HKU 56, was featured in period magazine road tests. In 1953 was used fitted with Jowett’s Series III engine and subjected to 40,000 miles of test running at MIRA.
Today, the car is in first-class condition, it’s FIVA registered, and has taken part in many UK and European rallies. Alluding to this are non-standard Ridgard rally seats, designed for comfort and security on long-distance touring.
HKU 56 is now for sale at £26,950 at York-based Manor Classic Cars, run by Paul Campbell. He says: ‘ This is a wellknown and beautifully kept car with a unique history.’
Some 900 Jupiters were built by Bradford-based Jowett alongside the Javelin saloon from 1950 to 1954, featuring the firm’s own flat-four engine.
