Young guns restore GTI

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - This Week -

More than 300 Peugeot UK apprentices have completed a two-year project to restore a 205GTI from the ground up.

Peugeot set the challenge to all its apprentices to develop their skills. The company sourced a 1986 205GTI project and the apprentices decided on restoring it to as close to original as possible.

A spokesman for Peugeot says: ‘ The apprentices wanted to experience an iconic product. We have all new and recent cars around us, but to appreciate the heritage of Peugeot, to see how much cars have evolved, what better way than to bring a 205GTI back to life?’

Apprentices added a 160bhp Mi16 engine with an ITG intake, but kept looks standard.
