cooper’s 70th bash at Prescott

Prescott Hill Climb will be wel­com­ing 70 Cooper race cars to cel­e­brate the 70th an­niver­sary of the Cooper Car Com­pany this Satur­day, 30 July.

The event also falls on the 70th an­niver­sary of when John Cooper and friend Eric Bran­don com­peted with their self-built Fiat Topolino based, JAP en­gined pro­to­type Cooper MkI, at Prescott’s in­au­gu­ral post-World War II meet­ing.

John’s son Mike Cooper will be driv­ing his ex-Jackie Ste­wart F3 car, and Cooper leg­ends Paddy Hop­kirk, Basil Wales, and Stu­art Turner will be at­tend­ing at the course, just out­side Chel­tenham, Glouces­ter. The Hill Climb day will fea­ture classes for Bu­gatti Own­ers’ Club mem­bers’ sa­loons, sports cars and rac­ing cars.
