cooper’s 70th bash at Prescott
Prescott Hill Climb will be welcoming 70 Cooper race cars to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Cooper Car Company this Saturday, 30 July.
The event also falls on the 70th anniversary of when John Cooper and friend Eric Brandon competed with their self-built Fiat Topolino based, JAP engined prototype Cooper MkI, at Prescott’s inaugural post-World War II meeting.
John’s son Mike Cooper will be driving his ex-Jackie Stewart F3 car, and Cooper legends Paddy Hopkirk, Basil Wales, and Stuart Turner will be attending at the course, just outside Cheltenham, Gloucester. The Hill Climb day will feature classes for Bugatti Owners’ Club members’ saloons, sports cars and racing cars.
