For sale: A warehouseworth of classic spares
The entire stock of one of the bestknown vintage and classic car spare specialists in the UK is to be sold as a single lot on 24 September.
Following Gerry Walker’s sudden death last year, his family is disposing of his Lancaster Vintage & Classic Spares business, based at Morecambe.
The company, set up by Gerry and his late business partner Mel Woods, over 40 years ago, has tons of spares for 1920s-70s cars and commercial vehicles.

‘ Typically someone would ring up and ask for a certain part from a 1930s car. After looking up at the ceiling as if for inspiration, he would say “Oh yes, I’ve got three of them”, put the phone down and minutes later re-emerge from the warehouse with the item.’
The vast selection of items includes everything from brake linings to wiper blades. The purchaser will have to clear the stock within an agreed time frame.
The business included the Wheelrights steering wheel restoration service. Following Gerry’s death, there were hundreds to be returned to unknown owners, as the details were in his head.
Gerry’s family have been overwhelmed with all the tributes they have received following the death of their father. David Brown ] Sealed bids are sought for the entire stock and appointments can be made to view the warehouse by telephoning Tracy on 07947 247977.
