level this A-series powered playing field was (see our story, right) the end result was some spectacularly close racing between F1 stalwarts, BTCC contenders and historic racing regulars, with entrants overcoming the lack of straight line speed with daring mid-corner manoeuvres and late braking – in the wet.
Whether it was BTCC champions or celebrities behind the wheel, the A30s and A35s taking part in the St Mary’s Trophy always attracted big crowds. It wasn’t just single-seaters in the Jack Brabham Tribute Parade – this 1956 Ford E83W van was on track too. An exception to the Revival’s pre-1966 rule allowed 14 3.0-litre Formula One racers, including this 1967 Lotus-Cosworth 49, to take part in high speed demonstrations.
