An as­sort­ment of cars once owned by roy­alty, politi­cian’s wives, and sev­eral celebri­ties will be auc­tioned at the NEC.

Sil­ver­stone Auc­tions is to ham­mer away what it’s calling the ‘Jew­els in the Crown’ pri­vate col­lec­tion’ as part of its Lan­caster In­sur­ance Clas­sic Mo­tor Show sale on 12-13 Novem­ber.

First up, a 2001 Daim­ler V8 Her Majesty The Queen was driven in reg­u­larly is up for grabs. It has a spe­cially adapted arm rest for the Royal hand­bag. A 2012 Bent­ley Mul­sanne pro­duced for her Ju­bilee tour is also avail­able.

A 1994 Audi Cabri­o­let owned by princess Diana makes a reap­pear­ance at auc­tion. In 2013, the Gomera pearl Audi went un­der the ham­mer at Blen­heim palace, where it sold for £36,500 at a Coys auc­tion. For this sale, it has an es­ti­mate of £50,000 – 60,000.

And to make a Royal flush, a 1980 Rolls-Royce Sil­ver Wraith II for­merly owned by princess Mar­garet is on the bill – as is a 2005 Rolls-Royce phan­tom, whose first owner was Sir El­ton John.

Mov­ing on to pol­i­tics, a 1972 Fiat 500 bought by for­mer prime Min­is­ter David Cameron as a sur­prise birth­day present to his wife Sa­man­tha is in the sale. It has an es­ti­mate of £18,000-22,000.

Harry Whale, clas­sic car spe­cial­ist at Sil­ver­stone Auc­tions says: ‘We ex­pect in­ter­est from around the globe.’

roy­alty has sat in and driven some of these cars. David cameron bought that Fiat 500.
