One week to save MoT

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - News -motmadness

You have one week to save the MoT.

CCW is reminding you to make your voice heard and to help end the MoT madness surrounding classics by contributing to an online consultation, which closes on 2 November.

The Department for Transport is mooting a consultation on roadworthiness testing for vehicles of historic interest – with the aim that vehicles made more than 40 years ago will not need an annual inspection.

The proposal has been condemned by many in the industry as dangerous, but it also has strong support in the historic vehicle fraternity.

Editor David Simister says: ‘ CCW firmly believes all cars should be given independent safety checks, and oppose the DfT’s proposals to take even more classics out of the MoT system.

‘Whether you agree with the Government’s proposals to drop MoTs for historic vehicles or not it’s hugely important for classic owners to have their say on something that will affect our hobby for years to come.’
