CCW’S SIX TOP TIPS

FOR MINIMISING POTHOLE DAMAGE

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - THIS WEEK -

Protect yourself and your classic by keeping an eye out for potholes, particularly in wet weather when deep potholes may be hidden beneath puddles. And if you find a pothole, report it to your local authority.

Slow down – striking potholes at high speeds can cause more damage.

Braking on a pothole will tilt the vehicle forward, placing more stress on the front suspension. If you have to drive over a pothole, allow the wheel to roll freely into the hole.

If you have hit a pothole and suspect your car has sustained damage, get it checked at a garage.

Correctly pressured tyres can act as a line of defence against potholes.
