Margo makes £13k!
A Mini restored to raise funds to beat cancer has been snapped up at the NEC – after its new owner saw the car in Classic Car Weekly.
Haydn Davies found out about the 1969 Mini, which has been restored by the MG Owners’ Club at its workshop in Cambridgeshire, after reading about it in our 2 November issue. The car, Margo, funded by Lancaster Insurance, was auctioned off by Silverstone Auctions for £12,938 at the show to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.
Haydn says: ‘As soon as I saw Margo in CCW I knew she would be a perfect Christmas gift for my wife. I travelled to the show just to bid for it, and to say I’m thrilled we now own it is an understatement. Knowing the money goes to a good cause tops it off.’
Richard Morley, divisional head at Lancaster Insurance, says the fundraising project was of major importance as 47,000 men a year in the UK are diagnosed with prostate cancer. ‘We’re thrilled Haydn was so passionate about being Margo’s
new owner,’ he says. www.findminiahome. com
