Arrange a nationwide exemption for historic vehicles from city centre emissions zones. London’s set the precedent with its forthcomin­g Ultra Low Emissions Zone, but there’s no guarantee that other cities will follow suit. Have a chat with Business Secretary Sajid Javid about what else can be done to bring more apprentice­s into the classic restoratio­n industry. There’s a shortage of youngsters learning the skills needed to keep Historic Vehicles on the roads. Come up with a UK solution for what to replace MoTs with, rather than closely following the European Roadworthi­ness Directive (particular­ly with Britain’s EU exit on the horizon). What works in Germany won’t necessaril­y work for classic owners over here. Work with the Home Office to help combat the growing problem of classic car theft – criminals are increasing­ly targeting older cars because their values have risen, and they’re far easier to steal than their modern counterpar­ts.
