FAVOURITE CAR MADE IN OXON?
The MGB GT, obviously! I reckon there ought to be a statue on the way into Abingdon to celebrate this, the town’s greatest automotive achievement.
It has to be the Mini for me. If I had a 1959 example from the first production line I’d be very happy, not that I’m aiming my sights too high, or anything!
MIKE LE CAPLAIN
I doubt that anyone will be even remotely surprised to learn what gets my vote, here. Isn’t it about time we had an equivalent MG for the 21st century?
MORRIS MINOR I’ve got a double at Oxford – my first car was a Morris Minor saloon, and today I own an N scale version that was made by Oxford Diecast.
WILLIAMS F1 CAR
The 1992 Williams Renault FW14B, as piloted by national hero and moustache connoisseur, Nigel Mansell. Well, it’s a car isn’t it?
Kate Middleton may be the Duchess of Cambridge, but I’d opt for the Princess of Oxford – British Leyland’s 18-22 series Wedges.
EDITOR AT LARGE
WOLSELEY 6/80 This is probably my all-time favourite classic. A joyous Nuffield mixture of imposing styling and fascinating engineering.
