Part-worn tyres must comply with the Motor Vehicle Tyres (Safety) Regulations 1994 (reg seven) requirements, which state:

Classic Car Weekly (UK) - - THIS WEEK -

The structural integrity must not be compromised. They must be free of large cuts, bulges, or lumps, both internally and externally. They can have no plies or cords exposed. They must have passed an inflation test.

The original grooves must still be clearly visible in their entirety and must be to a depth of at least 2mm across the full breadth of the tread, around its entire circumference.

Part-worns that have not been re-treaded, must show clearly the relevant ‘E’ mark, alongside which ‘PART-WORN’ must be applied permanently and legibly in letters at least 4mm high. Part-worns that have been re-treaded must adhere to additional requirements.

Part-worn tyres are subject to stringent rules.
