One of only 150 Ky­ote bug­gies ever made is for sale. The 1973 Volk­swa­gen-pow­ered Ky­ote II buggy is among the 100 clas­sic cars be­ing of­fered in an auc­tion in Ire­land this Sun­day, 5 Fe­bru­ary.

The sale is the first event in a joint en­ter­prise be­tween Mer­lin Car Auc­tions and carshows.ie and is to be held at Mer­lin’s Kil­dare premises.

The Ky­ote II buggy is a sur­vivor of a lim­ited edi­tion ve­hi­cle de­signed by US buggy spe­cial­ist Dean Jef­fries, as a four-seater that could be used in con­vert­ible, pick-up or wagon for­mat. It has 13,000 miles on the clock and a guide price of €10,000. An open top Ky­ote II ap­peared in the mu­sic video for ZZ Top’s song Legs.

Other cars in the auc­tion in­clude a right-hand drive 1953 MG Mid­get TD, a 1954 Austin A30, a 1964 Hill­man Minx, and a 1967 Mercedes 250 SL.
