WHY I LOVE MY VIXEN

ANDREW GRAY

Andrew has owned his 1970 Vixen Series 2 for four years; he imported it from Germany. He says: ‘I didn’t actually view the car before I bought it and while it was a very good example it did suffer from a few teething problems. It had been restored about ten years ago but had been standing for a while, so the first time I started it after getting it home the starter ring gear came off, which meant the gearbox had to come out. The core plugs were leaking too, while incorrect tuning caused engine problems that needed a top-end rebuild to fix. It’s sorted now, though, and like all Vixens it’s absolutely terrific to drive with superbly balanced handling.

‘Although I’m lucky enough to own other TVRs, I try to use this one as much as possible and it’s completed a few long trips, including a tour down to the Le Mans classic, which it completed without any problem.’
