AMorris Minor 1000 that travelled around the UK raising money for the Marie Curie charity is being put up for sale.

The 1963 four-door saloon, used in a month-long charity marathon that raised £40,000 for the terminal illness charity, is for sale via the Morris Minor Owners’ Club, priced at £3750.

Said to be in excellent condition, the car has just 87,000 miles on the clock and has a full MoT. It also retains its original 7143 HA registration number.

‘ We were delighted with how much we raised for Marie Curie and this car played a big part in that,’ says MMOC secretary, Ray Newell.

‘ We feel that it’s time for it to find a new owner, and we want it to go to a good home. We’d like it to be used, yet retain its current original condition.’

The Minor visited every MMOC branch during the marathon in September last year as part of the club’s 40th anniversary celebrations, raising funds as it went. A raffle also contributed to the total raised for Marie Curie.

Money from 7143 HA’s sale is going to club funds to help recover the costs of preparing the car and staging the marathon. Nick Larkin ❚

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the MMOC arranged for 7143 HA to run from John o’Groats to Land’s End to raise funds for the Marie Curie organisation.
