1996 MERCEDES S280

THE STORY SO FAR Miles driven 46 Total mileage 80,106 What’s gone wrong Lots of little things, but they’re being sorted Our S-class is the latest casualty to check into CCW’s car rehab, run by products editor and serial car fettler, Richard Kilpatrick. After picking up P772 LSR he diagnosed front suspension wear that could do with a bit of TLC, and he’s already managed to fix some loose interior trim and remedy an intermittent rear brake light. Next job is to replace the S-class’s front discs, but we’re already missing the big Benz’s charms. DS

2000 FORD PUMA

THE STORY SO FAR Miles driven 540 Total mileage 53,815 What’s gone wrong The full beam headlight fault has returned It’s good to be back behind the wheel of X147 OBV, after prising its keys from the grasp of CCW’s resident Ford superfan (and managing editor) James Sadlier. It’s coped with Simister household errands without any major faults and lapped up a return trip to Brooklands for the VSCC’s New Year Driving Tests without complaint. The only niggle is the full beam headlight stalk, which only works when it wants to. DS
